Undefeated is a heartbreaking, inspiring look at a high school football team in Tennessee. Few documentaries can get this close to their subjects without spoiling the moments that they have been so fortunate to capture, but this one is done with a graceful (yet gritty) touch. Is it about football? No, not really. And that is actually what raises it from something forgettable, to placing it next to such deep and highly regarded documentaries as Hoop Dreams. You won’t walk away from this film unchanged.

The Best Documentary Oscar was certainly well-deserved.
