Hollow Man, Paul Verhoeven’s contemporary take on Universal’s The Invisible Man, is a horrific thrill-ride exploring the notion of human invisibility, and causes us to ask the question, “What would I do if no one could see me?” The answers may make you squirm.

The film stars Kevin Bacon as the ego-maniac scientist, Sebastian Caine, a man driven by his dream of one day making it possible to successfully turn a human being invisible, and then bring them back again into the world of the visible. After somewhat successful animal tests, and without the knowledge of the team’s government financial backers, Sebastian demands that his team inject him with the serum to turn him invisible. The other scientists, including actors Elizabeth Shue and Josh Brolin, don’t like the plan one bit, but begrudgingly bow to their leader’s wishes. Making him invisible proves to be the easy part, but a failed attempt to bring back Sebastian, and the resulting lockdown peer monitoring of the brilliant scientist, cause the boss to go a little mad. Insane really. As Sebastian turns on his team, the maze-like lab becomes a deathtrap full of thrills, chills, and genius surprises. It is here that Verhoeven’s classic form shines through in a brilliantly violent way!…
